1900 McKinley defeats Bryan 292 / 155 U.S. troops joined an international force in putting down the Boxer Rebellion in China. The Gold Standard Act passed, making the gold dollar the sole standard of currency.	1901 McKinley 2nd Inaugural Address McKinley shot twice at point blank range by anarchist Leon Czolgosz while visiting the Pan-American Exposition in Buffalo, New York. He died one week later. Roosevelt sworn in Sept. 14
1902 Theodore Roosevelt 1st Lady: Edith	1903 The US supports an uprising in Panama against Colombian rule so that the new government will allow the building of the Panama canalPanama signed treaty for a canal under U.S. sovereignty. Department of Labor and Commerce was created.
1904 Roosevelt defeats Parker 336-140 Russo-Japanese War (1904-1905). Roosevelt ads the Roosevelt Corollary to the Monroe Doctrine making the US a sort of "international police power." This power is exercised continually over the next twenty years.	1905 Roosevelt's Inaugural Address
1906 Roosevelt awarded Nobel Peace Prize for arbitrating the end of the Russo-Japanese War. Hepburn Act, authorizing the Interstate Commerce Commission to regulate railroad rates, and the Pure Food and Drug Act were enacted.	1907 Financial panic and depression started. Roosevelt Supported William Howard Taft for the presidency.
1908 Taft defeats Bryan 321-162 Taft on humor 300Kb Audio File	1909 Taft's Inaugural Address William Taft 1st Lady: Helen Payne-Aldrich Act passed, lowering tariffs.
