1950 U.S. Forces entered combat in Korea.	1951 Truman relieved General Douglas MacArthur of his command in the Far East.
1952 Dwight D. Eisenhower 442-89EV Adlai E. Stevenson	1953 Dwight D. Eisenhower 1st Lady: Mamie The Department of Health, Education and Welfare was established  The Korean War ended.  Eisenhower nominated Earl Warren as chief justice of the Supreme Court.

1956 After Egypt nationalized the Suez Canal, the president refused to join Britain, France and Israel in an invasion of Egypt.  Denounced the USSR for crushing a Hungarian uprising.  Reelcted to a second term. 457-73EV Adlai E. Stevenson	1957 Signed the Eisenhower Doctrine, promising that the United States would resist Communist aggression in the Middle East.      Sent federal troops to Little Rock, Arkansas, to ensure the integration of Central High School.
1958	1959 The National Aeronautics and Space Administration was formed.
